What Does the Light in Your Dashboard Mean?

Dashboard Warning Lights

Have you ever come across a light in your dashboard and had no idea what it meant? If so, you’re not alone. There are a ton of warnings that illuminate at the sign of a problem, and we’re here to inform you of what a few of those mean at our Dodge dealership in Taylor, TX.

Check Engine

This is probably one of the most common lights our customers see. The check engine light is represented via a photo of an engine or sometimes as simple as ‘Check Engine’. There are many reasons as to why this could be showing up, such as a loose gas cap or needing an oil change. In any case, you should bring your car in to our service center so we can check that your engine is good to go.

An image of a battery will appear if your vehicle senses an issue with your powertrain. This could mean your battery is dying and will need assistance promptly, which is why it’s best to consult a professional before you do anything else. However, if your battery is fairly new, a loose connection or another problem may be the culprit.

Your brakes are never something to be taken lightly, and if you see the brake light come on, it’s heavily suggested you schedule an appointment soon. The reason for which your brake light is on could be as simple as leaving the parking brake on. If not, the brake fluid could be too low, your brake pads need replacing, or your ABS system isn’t operating correctly.

Of course, we always recommend scheduling an appointment in our Chrysler service center as soon as you encounter a light on in your dashboard. For more information or to set up a time to come in to Nyle Maxwell – Taylor, you can call us at 888-326-4529.
